Managing player behavior is essential for running a healthy 7 Days to Die server. This guide covers banning, kicking, and managing the ban list.
Kicking Players
Temporarily remove a player from the server.
kick <name/entity_id/steam_id> [reason]Kick a player from the server
Example: kick Steve "Please read the rules"
Tip
- Players can rejoin after being kicked
- Provide a reason to help players understand
- Use entity_id or steam_id for more accuracy
Banning Players
Ban players for a specific duration or permanently.
ban <name/entity_id/steam_id> <duration> [reason]Ban for duration in minutes (0 = permanent)
Example: ban Steve 1440 "Griefing bases"
ban <name> 0 [reason]Permanent ban
Example: ban Steve 0 "Cheating"
Tip
- Duration is in minutes: 1440 = 1 day, 10080 = 1 week
- Use 0 for permanent bans
- Bans are stored in serveradmin.xml
Unbanning Players
Remove bans from players.
- 1Open serveradmin.xml in your server config folder
- 2Find the banned player's entry
- 3Remove their entry from the banlist section
- 4Save the file
- 5Restart the server or run 'serveradmin reload'
Using serveradmin.xml
Manage bans directly in the configuration file.
- 1Located in: Server\Data\Saves\serveradmin.xml
- 2Contains admins, moderators, and banned players
- 3Edit with a text editor while server is stopped
- 4Backup before editing
Tip
- serveradmin.xml is the master file for permissions
- Changes may require server restart
- Always backup before manual edits
