Setting Up Scenario IDs on Your Arma Reforger Server
Important: Make sure you carefully read and verify Scenario IDs before using them on your server. Scenarios may have multiple IDs, and selecting the wrong one could result in loading errors.
What is a Scenario ID?
A Scenario ID is a unique identifier used by Arma Reforger servers to load specific maps, missions, or game modes from the Workshop. Setting the correct Scenario ID is essential for your server to properly load custom content.
Finding Scenario IDs in the Arma Reforger Workshop
Follow these steps to locate the correct Scenario ID for your server:
Step 1: Visit the Workshop Page
Navigate to the Arma Reforger Workshop at https://reforger.armaplatform.com/workshop and find the map or scenario you want to use.
Step 2: Select the Scenarios Tab
On the workshop page for your chosen content, locate and click on the Scenarios tab, which displays available scenarios for this workshop item.

Step 3: Locate the Scenario ID
Within the scenarios section, find the specific scenario you want to use. The Scenario ID will be displayed in the scenario details. This is the ID you will need to configure your server.

In this example, the Scenario ID is:
Configuring Your Server with the Scenario ID
IMPORTANT: You must install any required mods for custom maps before changing the Scenario ID. Changing to a modded map's Scenario ID without first installing the required mods may cause your server to crash on startup.
Once you have the Scenario ID, follow these steps to configure it on your server:
Step 1: Access the Configuration Menu
Log in to your control panel and navigate to your Arma Reforger server.
In the left sidebar, click on Configuration, then select Startup Parameters from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Locate the Scenario ID Field
Scroll down the Startup Parameters page until you find the Scenario ID field. This field contains the current scenario your server is using.

Step 3: Update the Scenario ID
Click on the Scenario ID text field and replace the existing ID with the new Scenario ID you copied from the Workshop.
For example, replace the default or current ID with something like:

After entering the new ID, either press Enter on your keyboard or click outside the text field to save the changes. You should see a green success message confirming that the startup variable was saved successfully.
Step 4: Restart Your Server
After updating the Scenario ID, restart your server for the changes to take effect. Your server will now load the new scenario when it starts up.
Installing Required Mods
Many custom scenarios require specific mods to function properly. Make sure to:
- Check the Workshop page for any required mods or dependencies
- Install all required mods on your server before changing the Scenario ID
- Ensure the mod IDs are correctly added to your server's mod list
Failure to install required mods before changing to a custom Scenario ID may result in server crashes or the scenario failing to load properly.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues:
- Server crashes on startup: This often indicates missing required mods. Check the Workshop page for the scenario to identify and install all dependencies.
- Scenario ID not saving: Make sure to press Enter or click outside the text field after entering the ID. Check for any error messages that might appear.
- Invalid Scenario ID errors: Double-check the ID for typos. The ID must be copied exactly as shown in the Workshop, including all brackets, braces, and special characters.
- Empty server or default map loads: Verify the Scenario ID is correct and that all required mods are installed and enabled.
