Regular backups protect your server data from corruption, accidental deletion, or failed updates. This guide covers how to create, manage, and restore backups using the Loafhosts LHyper panel.
Creating Manual Backups
Create a backup anytime you want to save your current server state.
- 1Log into your LHyper panel
- 2Go to Management > Backups
- 3Click 'Create Backup'
- 4Enter an optional name (e.g., 'Before Update 1.20')
- 5Wait for the backup to complete - this may take a few minutes for large servers
- 6Your backup will appear in the list with timestamp and size
Tip
- Always backup before major updates or changes
- Name backups descriptively so you remember what state they represent
- Backups are stored separately from your server files
Automatic Scheduled Backups
Set up automatic backups to run on a schedule using the Server Schedules feature.
- 1Go to Configuration > Schedules
- 2Click '+ Create Schedule'
- 3Name it 'Daily Backup' or similar
- 4Set the schedule (e.g., every 24 hours or daily at 4 AM)
- 5Click '+ New Task'
- 6Select 'Create Backup' from the Action dropdown
- 7Enable the schedule and save
Tip
- Schedule backups during low-activity periods
- Consider daily backups at minimum
- Set 'Only When Server Is Online' to avoid errors
Restoring from Backup
Restore a previous backup to revert your server to an earlier state.
- 1Go to Management > Backups
- 2Find the backup you want to restore
- 3Click the menu (three dots) next to the backup
- 4Select 'Restore'
- 5Confirm the restoration - this will overwrite current server files
- 6Wait for the restoration to complete
- 7Restart your server if it doesn't restart automatically
Tip
- Warning: Restoring overwrites current files - make a new backup first if needed
- Restoration stops the server automatically during the process
- Check your server after restoring to ensure everything works
Managing Backup Storage
Keep your backup storage organized and within limits.
- 1View all backups in Management > Backups
- 2Delete old backups by clicking the menu and selecting 'Delete'
- 3Download important backups to your computer for off-site storage
- 4Check your backup slot limit in your hosting plan
Tip
- Your plan includes a certain number of backup slots
- Keep at least 2-3 recent backups
- Download critical backups before deleting them from the panel
