A Valheim dedicated server takes 10 players at once. That is the game’s own limit: Steam’s store page calls Valheim a game for “1-10 players” (store.steampowered.com). No setting on the server raises it, and the Loafhosts panel has no player limit setting for Valheim.
Where you see the count
Open the Players page. The figure Players at the top shows how many are on now, out of 10. The list Online (1) shows who they are. It is read from the server’s log as players join and leave.

When the server is full, the next player cannot join. The Lately list on the same page then shows “could not join: the server was full” (1).

Players and the plan you pick
No setting raises the limit. More memory helps a large world and mods, not the number of players.
Memory use depends on the world and on what players do. On Loafhosts’ busier Valheim servers, memory in use over a day was about 1.5 to 2.2 GB.
Mods that claim more players
Some mods say they raise the player limit. A mod is not part of the game and Loafhosts does not support one for this. Read the mod’s own page on Thunderstore before you use it. Treat what it says as what the mod author says, not as a promise.
If you try one, know the risks:
- Every player needs the same mod. Players on Xbox and Game Pass cannot install mods, so they cannot join a server that needs it.
- The server relays the players’ traffic, and the players’ own games run the areas they are in. More players means more load on the server and more lag for everyone. The wiki describes this model.
- A mod can fail to load or break after a game update. The Mods page shows the chip Did not load when it fails.

If it does not work
- A player cannot join. Look at the Players page. If 10 are on, the server is full. Ask someone to leave, or use the player list tools to see who is on.
- The game lags with many players. See Valheim server lag.
- You want more than 10 players. Run a second world on another server. Each server has its own 10.
