Arma Reforger has no player whitelist in config.json. Bohemia’s server config page lists no setting that allows only named players. To control who joins, set a join password or ban the players you do not want. Those are the two options.
The word “whitelist” does appear in the config file, but not for players. rcon.whitelist is a list of remote console commands that are allowed to run. It has nothing to do with who can join.
Option 1: a join password
Only people who know the password can join. This is the closest thing the game has.
- Open Config Editor and find Join password in the Server group.
- Type a password. The panel’s help text says “Players need this to join. Leave it empty for a public server.”
- Choose Save, then restart the server.
Share the password only with the people you want. Anyone who has it can pass it on, so change it if it leaks. The full steps are in set a server password.
Option 2: bans
A ban does the opposite of a whitelist. It keeps out named players and lets everyone else in. Use it when you know who you want gone.
- In the panel, the Admin Tools tab has a Bans card. Fill in Identity ID, Name and Reason, choose Ban, then Save changes.
- In game, an admin can type
#ban create <id> <seconds>.
See ban and kick players. You need each player’s identity ID, so see find a player’s ID.
By hand
For a password, set password inside game in config.json:
{
"game": {
"password": "changeme"
}
}
Stop the server before you edit the file, then start it.
If it does not work
- You looked for a whitelist setting and cannot find one. There is none. Use the options above.
- Players cannot join after you set a password. They must type it when they join. Check it for typos and that you restarted.
- A banned player is still on. Bans from the Admin Tools tab are read again about every 5 minutes. Wait, and check you chose Save changes.
