Keen Games, who make Enshrouded, say the server process uses about 4.4 GB of memory when idle. Each player adds up to 100 MB. In total it should not use more than 6 GB. For four to six players they recommend 6 cores. For 16 players they recommend 8.
Checked on the 0.9 server. Enshrouded 1.0 is released on 15 October 2026.
Keen’s figures
Memory, from Keen’s Dedicated Server FAQ:
- Idle: about 4.4 GB of physical memory.
- Each player: up to 100 MB more.
- In total: not more than 6 GB.
Recommended machine, from Keen’s Recommended Server Specifications:
| 4 to 6 players | 16 players | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Core i7 at 3.2 GHz or equivalent AMD, 6 cores (12 threads) | Intel Core i7 at 3.7 GHz or equivalent AMD, 8 cores (16 threads) |
| Memory | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Disk | SSD, at least 30 GB free | SSD, at least 30 GB free |
| Each saved world | Up to 100 MB | Up to 100 MB |
The 16 GB is for the whole machine. It is not what the server process itself uses.
Keen also give these:
- Disk: the uncompressed server files are about 13 GB, and they recommend 30 GB free.
- A saved world: between 1 MB and 100 MB. It starts very small. A world with many large bases is closer to 100 MB.
- Network: 2 Mbit/s of upload for each player. Download should be about the same.
- Ports: the server uses one default port,
15637, and IPv4.
Why a full server needs more
Keen say each player slot adds load on the server. A full 16-player server needs a faster processor with more cores than a group of friends does. Keen’s table shows 6 cores at 3.2 GHz for four to six players and 8 cores at 3.7 GHz for 16. Each player also adds up to 100 MB of memory, and large bases make the world file bigger.
If memory or the processor is the limit, Keen suggest lowering the number of player slots. In the ArthOS panel that is Player slots on the Startup page. See Enshrouded player slots.
On a Loafhosts server
With nobody online a Loafhosts Enshrouded server used under 1 GB of memory on 13 October 2026. The Disk Usage card in the server header shows your real use.
Your memory, cores and disk are set by the size you ordered. The Players page shows the Game build and the number of players and bases.
If the server is slow
- Lag with many players. The server may be short of processor time. Lower Player slots or move to a larger size. See Enshrouded server lag.
- Disk is full. Delete old backups or unused files in Files.
