Satisfactory mod manager: add and manage server mods

Use the Mods page to add Satisfactory mods from ficsit.app, turn them off, remove them and tell players what they need. What each chip means is explained.

Updated , checked on Satisfactory 1.2, build 513885

The Mods page adds mods from ficsit.app to your server and keeps them tidy. It installs the loader SML (Satisfactory Mod Loader) for you, with every mod a mod needs. It also gives players a list of what they must install. Players need SML and the same mods to join.

Open the page

Open the Mods tab of your server. At the top, one line tells you whether SML is on the server. Without any mod, it says SML comes with the first mod. Once a mod is on, the line says that players need SML and the same mods to join. A game without them cannot join.

There are two tabs: Installed and Add mods.

The Mods page, Installed tab, with the SML line at the top and mods with their chips and switches
  1. SML line
  2. Loaded
  3. Players need it
  4. The switch

Add a mod

  1. Open Add mods.
  2. Type in Search ficsit.app.
  3. Narrow the list with Tag, which picks one tag. Change the sort with Order: Best match, Popular, Trending, Most downloaded, Most viewed, Recently updated, Newest or Name.
  4. Choose Install on the mod you want.
  5. A box lists what will be installed. Mods the chosen mod needs are marked needed. It also shows the total download size.
  6. While no mod is installed yet, tick the box that says you understand players need the same mods.
  7. Choose Install.
The Add mods tab with the search box, the tag and order lists, and an Install button on each mod
  1. Search
  2. Tag
  3. Order
  4. Install

The server stops, the mods are put in place, and the server starts again if it was running. The page header shows how it goes.

A mod that says No server version for this game version has no build for your server yet. Choose another, or wait for its author. If you have it already, the button says Install again.

The Installed tab

Each mod is a row. These are the chips you can see:

  • Loaded: the game loaded the mod at this start. Shown while the server runs.
  • Not loaded yet: the mod is on, but the game has not named it yet. It can show for a short time after a start.
  • Off: the mod is turned off. It stays on the server but does not run.
  • Update: a newer version fits your game. It shows the version.
  • Players need it: players must install this mod too.
  • Server only: players do not need it.
  • Needed by another: you did not choose it. Another mod needs it.
  • Added by hand: the folder was put on the server by you, not by this page.
  • Reported damaged and Reported broken: what ficsit.app says about the mod on the current game version. Treat both as a warning. The panel shows a chip only for these two. A mod without one is not marked.

The line SML (version) is on this server and loads the mods is the loader. It has no switch, because every mod needs it.

Turn off, on, or remove a mod

Stop the server first: choose Stop at the top right of the server page. The game reads its mods only when it starts, so the switch and Remove are locked while the server runs. A note on the page says so.

  • The switch on the row turns a mod off or on. Use it to find out whether a mod causes a problem, without losing it.
  • Open the menu on the row and choose Remove to delete the mod. Its folder in FactoryGame/Mods is deleted. Its settings in FactoryGame/Configs stay, so a later install keeps them. Remove also works only while the server is stopped.
  • The small link icon beside a mod’s name opens its page on ficsit.app. It is not in the menu.
  • Update to (version) is in the same menu when an update shows. It works while the server runs too. It stops and starts the server.

For players

For players lists the mods players need. Choose Copy the list or Download the list and send it to them. Each player installs SML and these mods through the Satisfactory Mod Manager on their PC. See players install mods.

When the game updates

When Steam has a newer game than your server, a note says so. Mods that ficsit.app reports as broken or damaged may stop the server from starting. Choose Hold the update to keep the server on its current version until the mods catch up. It shows only when Steam has a newer version, the server has at least one mod, and your role may change the startup settings. Choose Update at the next start to let it update. That button shows whenever an update is held. While it is held, players who updated their game cannot join. Update when the mods you need no longer carry one of the two chips above. See hold the game update.

The server will not start with its mods

Under the list, The server will not start with its mods? has a button Find the mod. Choose it, then Search. The panel starts the server with fewer mods each time until it finds the one that stops it. Each try is a start, so it takes a few minutes. Every mod is put back as it was afterwards. The result shows as Search done.

What SML said at this start lists the errors and warnings the loader printed. Read it before you search.

If it does not work

  • The switch or Remove is grey. The server is running. Choose Stop at the top right of the server page.
  • Players cannot join after the first mod. They need SML and the same mods. Send them the list.
  • A mod is Not loaded yet for a long time. Check What SML said at this start, then try turning it off.
  • No mods show on Add mods. Change Tag back to Any tag and clear the search.
