Combat Ops is a co-op scenario in Arma Reforger, made for small teams working through changing objectives. There are three official Combat Ops scenarios, one each for Arland, Everon and Kolguyev. To run one, set game.scenarioId to its ID and restart the server.
What the mode is
Bohemia describes Combat Ops as “cooperative gameplay and dynamic objectives” that focus on small team tactics. On Everon you support local resistance fighters who are trying to liberate the island. On Arland or Kolguyev you play Special Forces and carry out sabotage missions behind enemy lines. It is a different game from Conflict, which is a large battle between two sides over a whole island. See Everon Conflict settings if you want that instead.
The scenario IDs
Copy the whole ID: the curly braces, the 16 characters, the path and .conf. These are from Bohemia’s official list on the Server Config page.
| Name | Scenario ID |
|---|---|
| Combat Ops - Arland | {DAA03C6E6099D50F}Missions/24_CombatOps.conf |
| Combat Ops - Everon | {DFAC5FABD11F2390}Missions/26_CombatOpsEveron.conf |
| Combat Ops - Kolguyev | {CB347F2F10065C9C}Missions/CombatOpsCain.conf |
The file names do not all match the island names: the Kolguyev scenario is CombatOpsCain.conf. Use the name in the first column to pick, and copy the ID exactly.
In the ArthOS panel
- Open your server and choose the Config Editor tab.
- In the Server group, find Scenario.
- Pick Combat Ops: Arland, Combat Ops: Everon or Combat Ops: Kolguyev from the list. The list holds 23 official scenarios, so scroll to find them.
- Choose Save. The page says “Saved changes apply after a restart”, so restart the server if it is running.
To play Combat Ops on some days and another scenario on others, use the Rotation tab. It holds a playlist of scenarios, see scenario rotation.
By hand
- Open
config.json. - Set
scenarioIdinside thegameblock, for example for Everon:
{
"game": {
"scenarioId": "{DFAC5FABD11F2390}Missions/26_CombatOpsEveron.conf"
}
}
- Save the file and restart the server.
Player counts
Set the player limit the same way as for any scenario, in Maximum players (game.maxPlayers, 1 to 128). See changing the player limit. Bohemia’s pages do not give a player count that Combat Ops is built for, so pick a number that suits the team size you want. Combat Ops aims at small teams.
If it does not work
- The server does not start after the change. Check the ID character by character. A missing brace or a wrong letter is enough. Copy it from the table rather than typing it.
- The log says
Unable to read the mission header. The game cannot find that scenario. The ID is wrong, or the scenario belongs to a mod that is not on the list. The Troubleshoot tab on Mods reports it as “The scenario cannot be loaded”. Pick another scenario. - The scenario is not in the panel’s list. The list has 23 official entries, including all three Combat Ops ones. If you do not see the one you want, paste its ID into the box under the list.
- The world is fresh after every restart. Persistence is off. Turn it on in the Persistence tab.
