To give a player an item, type give <player> <item> <count>, for example give Alex minecraft:diamond 5. In the ArthOS panel, open the player in the Players tab, choose an item under Give and press Give. The player must be in the game.
In the ArthOS panel
- Open your server and choose the Players tab.
- Click the player’s name. Their window opens.
- In the In the game card, find the Give heading.
- Click the Item box and type part of the item’s name. The list shows 50 items at a time, so keep typing until yours is near the top. Choose it.
- Type how many in Amount. The panel accepts 1 to 6,400.
- Choose Give. The panel answers “Given.” If the game replies with something else, the panel shows it as “The game: …” and you can read what went wrong.
If the Give row is missing, the panel has no item list for your Minecraft version. It has lists for 1.21.4 and newer. Use the Console command below instead.
If the player’s inventory is full, the game fills it and drops the rest at the player’s feet. Only that player can pick it up (Minecraft Wiki).
Find an item’s ID
Each item has an ID such as minecraft:diamond_sword. On the Players tab, choose the IDs sub tab. Choose Items, type in Search by name or ID, and choose Copy ID beside the one you want. The page says which Minecraft version the names come from. It shows the first 200 matches, so type to narrow it.
Change a player’s inventory without giving
Open the player’s window and stay on Overview. It shows the inventory like the game does, with hearts, food and level above the hotbar.
- To move an item, drag it to another slot. Or click it, then click where it goes.
- To change hearts, food or level, drag or click them. Click the level to type a number.
This works for a player who is offline too. The window says “As of the game’s last save” with a time, and the change goes into the save file. The player sees it the next time they join. You cannot add a new item to an offline player. Give needs them in the game.
Item components on 26.x
Since Java 1.20.5, an item can carry components in square brackets after its ID. The Minecraft Wiki’s examples, typed with a player’s name in the Console:
| What you get | Command |
|---|---|
| A diamond sword called “Example” in its lore | give Alex diamond_sword[lore=["Example"]] 1 |
| A diamond sword with Sharpness X | give Alex diamond_sword[enchantments={"minecraft:sharpness":10}] 1 |
| A diamond block that can be placed on dirt, even in Adventure mode | give Alex diamond_block[can_place_on={blocks:"dirt"}] 1 |
The panel’s Give box cannot take components. Use the Console for them. An item from a mod has its mod’s name before the colon, such as create:brass_ingot.
By hand
In the Console, type with no slash. The Console is not a player, so name the player: give Alex minecraft:diamond 5. If you leave out the count, you get one.
In game, an operator needs level 2 or higher (see operators). The same command works with a slash, and @s means yourself: /give @s minecraft:diamond 5.
The command forms on this page come from the Minecraft Wiki’s give page. The wiki lists a limit of 100 stacks’ worth in one command. A stack is a full pile of one item in one slot.
More commands are in Minecraft server commands. More about the game is on the Minecraft page.
If it does not work
- There is no Give row. The player is offline, your version is older than 1.21.4, or your role does not allow it. For an offline player, move items in the inventory instead.
- “Given.” appears but the player has nothing. Ask them to check the floor near their feet. A full inventory drops the rest.
- The game refuses the amount. Ask for fewer. More than 100 stacks’ worth is over the limit the wiki lists.
- The item is not found. Use the full ID from the IDs tab, with the name before the colon for mod items. Wrong spelling in a component also makes the command fail.
