Run a Vault Hunters server (1.18.2, Forge)

Vault Hunters Third Edition is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2. Install it from Add-ons, then Modpacks, and make sure players use the same version.

Updated , checked on Minecraft Java 26.3

Vault Hunters Third Edition is an RPG modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2 on Forge. Open Add-ons, choose Modpacks, search CurseForge for “Vault Hunters Third Edition” and install it. The panel sets up Forge, the Minecraft version and the Java the pack needs.

This guide covers Third Edition 3.21.7. It does not cover Remastered.

As of 11 October 2026, CurseForge lists the pack’s newest file as 3.21.7 (28 July 2026), and a matching server pack, “Vault-Hunters-3rd-Edition-3.21.7-server-files”, from 30 July 2026.

What the pack is

The authors describe an action RPG in a dimension called The Vault. Players level up, learn talents and abilities, build farms and collect 25 artifacts to reach the final boss. The page says mods are locked behind research as you gain Vault Level. It supports multiplayer, such as running vaults together.

In the ArthOS panel

  1. Ordering a new server? On the order page choose Modpack, then Choose a modpack. Pick a larger size than a plain server needs. Already have a server? Open Add-ons.
  2. Choose Modpacks. In Find a modpack, search CurseForge for “Vault Hunters Third Edition”. Press Install on it. The version list marks 3.21.7 “has a server pack”, which means it has files made for servers.
  3. Press Choose beside the version and read the plan. For 3.21.7 it reads: Forge 40.3.11 for Minecraft 1.18.2, on Java 17, 155 files (317.8 MB). The list also shows Vault Hunters Third Edition - Remastered and Second Edition (1.16.5). Pick the Third Edition unless you want those.
  4. Memory: the plan says packs this size need about 7 GB. The authors also tell players to set the launcher’s Allocated Memory to 8192 MB, which is for a player’s game. If the plan warns that your server has less memory, choose a larger size.
  5. Leave Start a new world ticked, then press Install. The plan says a backup is taken first, and that the server is unavailable while it runs.
  6. Start the server and watch the console while the pack loads.

Players use the same version

Each player installs the same pack version, 3.21.7 or whatever the server runs, with the CurseForge app. The page gives these steps: open the CurseForge app, find Vault Hunters, set Allocated Memory to 8192 MB, then press play.

Do not mix it up with the Remastered pack

CurseForge also lists “Vault Hunters Third Edition - Remastered” by the same team. Its page says it has the final update (Update 21), some removed mods and updated world generation. It is “not intended to update your previous worlds but to start fresh”. It is a different pack. Server and players must use the same one. Its Minecraft version is not covered here, so read its page.

If it does not work

  • Players cannot join. Compare pack names and versions. Remastered and Third Edition do not match.
  • The server runs out of memory. Pick a larger size. See Minecraft out of memory.
  • The server does not start on an old world. Start a new world.
