To use Rust admin commands, make yourself an owner first, then press F1 in game. The command is ownerid <your SteamID> "Name", typed in the server console. Without it the F1 console only runs player commands.
Become admin
You cannot make yourself admin from the F1 console. Do it from the server side.
In the ArthOS panel
- Open your server and choose Console. The server must be running.
- Join the server, then type
users. It lists SteamIDs and names. Copy yours. - Type
ownerid 76561198123456789 "YourName", with your own SteamID. The server answersAdded owner YourName, steamid 76561198123456789. - Leave the server and join again. Rust gives you the admin level when you connect.
You can also use the Players tab, which lists owners and moderators without typing. See add an owner or moderator.
By hand
Stop the server and add a line to server/<identity>/cfg/users.cfg:
ownerid 76561198123456789 "YourName" ""
Start the server and join. Use moderatorid instead of ownerid for the lower level. An owner is level 2, a moderator level 1.
To take it away: removeowner <SteamID> or removemoderator <SteamID>.
Use the F1 console
Press F1 in game, type a command and press Enter. Everything below needs admin. Type find <word> if you forget a name, and it lists matching commands.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
noclip | Toggle flying through walls |
god true or god false | No damage, hunger or thirst |
debugcamera | Free camera mode |
teleport <player> | Teleport yourself to that player |
teleport <player1> <player2> | Move player1 to player2 |
teleport2me <player> | Bring that player to you |
teleportpos "x, y, z" | Teleport to a coordinate |
teleport2marker | Teleport to your map marker |
spawnitem <item> | Spawn an item where you are looking |
ent kill | Destroy the thing you are looking at |
ent who | Show who placed the thing you are looking at |
heal <amount> | Heal yourself |
killplayer <player> | Kill a player |
kick <player> <reason> | Remove a player, who can rejoin at once |
ban <player> <reason> <duration> | Ban an online player |
banid <SteamID> "<name>" "<reason>" 1d | Ban by SteamID, player need not be online |
unban <SteamID> | Lift a ban |
banlistex | List banned players with names, reasons and end times |
mute <player> | Mute a player in chat for everyone |
players | Who is on, with SteamID and ping |
status | Same, plus time played and IP address |
env.time 12 | Set the server time to noon |
weather.load clear | Load clear weather |
heli.call | Start the patrol helicopter event |
sv say <message> | Broadcast a message to chat from SERVER |
Use the SteamID instead of a name when a name is unusual, as the wiki advises: it is more accurate.
Ban durations are a number with a unit, for example 1d, 7d, 12h, or 1M7d5m for one month, seven days and five minutes. Always give the unit.
After banid or unban, also run server.writecfg so the change is saved to the config files. If you do not, a crash can lose it.
Commands that need you in game
noclip, god, teleport, spawnitem and ent kill act on you or on what you look at. They work in the F1 console, not in the panel’s Console tab or over RCON, because the server has no player to apply them to.
If it does not work
- The F1 console refuses an admin command. You are probably not admin yet. Check the SteamID you used, then leave and rejoin after
ownerid. - A command works in F1 but nothing happens in the panel Console. It needs a player. Use F1 in game.
svcommands. Some commands only exist on the server. From F1 as admin, putsvfirst, for examplesv say Restart in 5 minutes.- A ban came back after a crash. Run
server.writecfgafterbanidandunban. - A SteamID is refused. Use the 17 digit SteamID64, not a profile name.
