The Trader mod puts AI traders, trader cities and safe zones in DayZ. Players buy and sell items for ruble money. Its Workshop ID is 1590841260. Add it to Additional Mods, then put its Trader config folder in profiles, and restart.
What it does
The Workshop page says the mod “brings AI Trader, Tradercitys and Safezones to DayZ”. The standard currency is the Ruble item. The default trader cities are at Green Mountain and Kumyrna. You can configure the cities, safe zones and items yourself. The authors listed are Helkhiana and Dr_J0nes.
The mod has no required items on its Workshop page, so it does not need CF. The order you type in Additional Mods does not matter; see mod load order.
Whether its types file needs merging into your own types is Not checked.
Players only get rubles by selling items to traders, unless you add the money items to your loot table. The Workshop page says that if you do not add the currency item to the loot table, it does not spawn as loot.
The Workshop page was last updated on 16 October 2024, so try the mod on your server before you open it to players.
Another way to get traders is the Market in DayZ Expansion, which is part of the Expansion Bundle. See install DayZ Expansion.
In the ArthOS panel
- Open Startup. In Additional Mods, add
@1590841260;to the list and choose Save. - Make sure Automatic Updates is on. The server downloads the mod and copies its
.bikeykey intokeysat the next start. - Choose Restart on the Console page and wait for the server to start.
- Get the config files. The Workshop page links an up-to-date copy at
https://github.com/helkhiana/DrJ0nes-Trader-Config. It has aTraderfolder withTraderConfig.txt,TraderObjects.txt,TraderVariables.txt,TraderAdmins.txtand the vehicle files, and aTypesfolder withtrader_types.xml. - Open Files, go into
profiles, and upload theTraderfolder there. The result isprofiles/Trader/TraderConfig.txt. - Restart again.
The Workshop page says to copy the Trader folder from the mod’s extra folder. On this server, files of a downloaded mod are changed to lowercase letters when they are downloaded. Use the GitHub copy instead, so the file names keep their capital letters. Linux file names are case sensitive.
The Workshop page says the Ruble items are MoneyRuble1, MoneyRuble5, MoneyRuble10, MoneyRuble25, MoneyRuble50 and MoneyRuble100. Add them to your loot table if you want them to appear as loot.
Change the traders
All the settings are in text files in profiles/Trader. Open them in Files and restart the server after a change.
TraderConfig.txtholds the currency, then each trader, with its categories and items. The first trader is ID 0, the second is ID 1, and so on. An item line holds the class name, then the values the file explains in its own comments.TraderObjects.txtplaces traders in the world.
One more rule from the Workshop page and the config file:
- Humans or static objects must be spawned only through
TraderObjects. The<TraderMarkerPosition>and<ObjectPosition>of a trader must be identical.
To use a vending machine or cash box as a trader, add <ObjectAttachment> NPC_DUMMY to its <Object> entry. The Workshop page gives this as the way to make the trading menu work on objects that are not characters.
If it does not work
- “Can’t compile World script module” with “Multiple declaration of class TraderItem”. Remove the mod Trader Fixes and Features. The Workshop page says it is part of the Trader mod now. If you do not run it, another mod you run has repacked it.
- Players cannot use a vending machine or trader. The Workshop page lists these causes: the trader is spawned some way other than
TraderObjects,<TraderMarkerPosition>and<ObjectPosition>differ, or another mod interferes. - Bought vehicles disappear. The Workshop page says to change
<lifetime>3</lifetime>to<lifetime>3888000</lifetime>for your vehicles. - Players are kicked. Check that the mod version matches. See fix the mod mismatch kick.
