Jobs Reborn: let players earn money from jobs

Jobs Reborn pays players money for mining, farming, fishing and more. What it needs (Vault, an economy plugin, CMILib), how to join a job, first settings.

Updated , checked on Minecraft Java 26.3

Jobs Reborn pays players money for what they do in the world: breaking blocks, placing them, killing mobs, fishing, crafting and more. Each player joins up to three jobs, such as Miner or Farmer, and levels up in them. It needs Vault, an economy plugin that keeps the money, and a helper plugin called CMILib.

It is free on SpigotMC. It is not on Modrinth or Hangar.

What you need

PluginWhy
Jobs RebornThe jobs
CMILibA required helper. Jobs Reborn’s plugin.yml lists it as a dependency
VaultThe bridge to the money. Jobs Reborn’s page lists it as a dependency. See what Vault is
An economy pluginKeeps the balances. Jobs Reborn’s help page says Jobs “is trying to send money to your Economy plugin”

Without an economy plugin behind Vault, jobs have nowhere to pay into.

This guide does not name an economy plugin for 26.3: EssentialsX, the usual one, had no 26.3 build on 11 October 2026. In Add-ons, search for an economy plugin, check on its page that it supports Vault and your version, and take a backup first. See also what Vault is.

Versions

Read on 11 October 2026:

  • Jobs Reborn 5.2.6.7, updated 8 October 2026. SpigotMC lists it as tested up to 26.2. Minecraft 26.3 is not listed.
  • CMILib 1.6.0.1, updated 25 September 2026. SpigotMC lists it as tested up to 1.21 and names no 26.x version.
  • Vault. The original has had no release since 2020. The Vault guide covers VaultUnlocked, a drop-in fork that lists 26.3.

Search Jobs Reborn and CMILib on SpigotMC in Add-ons, Plugins. SpigotMC only lists the versions an author says they tested, so the panel offers these builds with an amber note instead of hiding them. For Jobs Reborn 5.2.6.7 the note reads that its author lists it as tested up to Minecraft 26.2, not 26.3, and that many plugins keep working on newer versions, so you should check the console after it loads. CMILib’s note says “tested up to Minecraft 1.21”. The dialog also shows “Builds that cannot be installed here: 14”.

The Install dialog for Jobs Reborn on SpigotMC, with the amber note about the tested version
  1. The newest version
  2. The amber note
  3. Install

Take a backup first. Pick the newest version (1), read the note (2), then choose Install (3). Then watch the Console after the restart. An older build can cause bugs or lag. See when a plugin has no build for your version. Not checked on 26.3 as of 11 October 2026: Jobs Reborn and CMILib running on 26.3.

Install

  1. In Add-ons, Plugins, install Vault (or VaultUnlocked), your economy plugin and CMILib. Then install Jobs Reborn. The panel installs none of these for you.
  2. Choose Restart now.
  3. Type plugins in the Console. Jobs should be green.
  4. Read the start of the Console. A missing plugin is named there.

By hand: put each jar in the plugins folder with Files, Upload, then restart.

Join a job

Players type these in game chat.

CommandWhat it does
/jobs browseLists the jobs, in a menu or in chat
/jobs info [jobName]Shows what a job pays for
/jobs join [jobName]Joins a job
/jobs leave [jobName]Leaves a job
/jobs statsShows your level in each job
/jobs topShows the leaderboard
/jobs questsShows today’s quests

The default jobs are Hunter, Farmer, Enchanter, Explorer, Woodcutter, Miner, Builder, Digger, Crafter, Fisherman, Weaponsmith and Brewer.

Commands for admins

Type them in the Console without a slash, or in game with one.

  • jobs employ [playerName] [jobName] puts a player in a job. jobs fire [jobName] [playerName] removes them.
  • jobs grantxp [playerName] [jobName] [amount] gives a player XP in a job.
  • jobs boost [jobName] money 1.5 adds a money boost to one job. jobs boost money all 5 10m adds a boost of 5 to every job for 10 minutes.
  • jobs reload reloads the plugin.

Permissions

Jobs Reborn’s permissions page says jobs.use and jobs.world.[worldname] “will be added automatically in most cases”. If not, add them for each player or group. Others:

  • jobs.join.[jobname] lets a player join that job. Set it to false to forbid a job.
  • jobs.max.3 lets a player hold 3 jobs, whatever max-jobs says.
  • jobs.autojoin.[jobname] joins a job when the player logs in.

Give them with a permissions plugin. See LuckPerms.

First settings

Jobs Reborn keeps its files in plugins/Jobs. Open them in Files. After a change, type jobs reload.

In generalConfig.yml (defaults from the plugin’s source):

  • max-jobs: how many jobs one player can hold. The default is 3. -1 removes the limit.
  • enable-pay-creative: the default is true, so players are paid in creative mode. Set it to false to stop that.
  • save-period: minutes between saves. The default is 10.
  • locale-language: the language, en by default.

In jobConfig.yml you set what each job pays and how much XP it gives, per action and per block or mob.

A player can place and break the same block again and again for money. The common issues page suggests giving a block a negative value for placing and a positive one for breaking, so repeating it loses money.

If it does not work

  • Nothing pays, and the Console names Vault. Install Vault and restart. Jobs Reborn’s page says to “make sure you installed Vault first”.
  • Vault is there but no money moves. There is no economy plugin behind Vault. Install one.
  • CMILib shows red in the list. Jobs Reborn cannot start. Take a backup, turn both off in Manage all, and restart.
  • Jobs is red in plugins. Read the first error in logs/latest.log. The usual cause is a build made for a different Minecraft version, or a missing CMILib.
  • A player cannot join a job. They lack jobs.use or jobs.join.[jobname].
  • The server lags and a profiler shows BufferedPaymentTask. The common issues page says the economy plugin is slow to take the money. Its fixes: set payouts in jobConfig.yml to 0, or use a faster economy plugin. See fix lag.
